Experienced Be Mitey Clean's deep cleaning for our 3-seater sofa and we're very impressed by the difference in the cleaned and dirty sofa! We had a few stains from spills/pee/random stains which we deemed impossible to remove, but Wai and Eimyat were able to remove them easily within the given time. It was really satisfying seeing all the dirt and grime come out and the cleaned sofa looked 10x brighter! Plus point - the sofa smells great too. I would trust them for any upcoming deep cleaning in the future!

Engaged Be Mitey Clean for a post-renovation cleaning on my 2-Room Flexi BTO. The flat was dusty from the renovations with a lot of construction and carpentry dust everywhere, including inside the cabinets and along the window tracks. The team—led by supervisor Iwin, with Thida and Cherry—did an excellent job. They arrived on time, brought all their own equipment, and were very detailed. They made sure to wipe down all the tight corners and shelves, successfully removing all the stubborn dust along the grooves. The flat is now spotless and ready for move-in. The handover was smooth and professional. Highly recommend Be Mitey Clean and the team led by Iwin for post-renovation cleaning.

Excellent job by Nhitz Pan Thinzar and her team! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From the start, Nhitz was very professional and took the time to brief me clearly on what they would be cleaning and what to expect. Throughout the cleaning, they were very detailed and made sure the whole place was properly taken care of. The team was also very friendly and easy to communicate with. I even asked for their help with something that was actually outside their scope of work, and they gladly helped me without hesitation, which I really appreciated. Very happy with the overall service and the attention to detail. The place was left clean and well taken care of. Highly recommended! Thank you Nhitz Pan Thinzar and team for the excellent work. Good job! 👍

Our Curtain Dry Cleaning & Steam Cleaning Process

Curtain Dry Cleaning

Best for: Silk, velvet, delicate linings, and fabrics marked “dry clean only”

  1. Inspection & Assessment – Technician checks fabric type, existing stains, and any structural wear (hems, linings, hooks) before cleaning begins.

  2. Dust & Debris Removal – Curtains are vacuumed or gently agitated to remove loose dust and surface particles before solvent treatment.

  3. Pre-Treatment – Visible stains are spot-treated with fabric-safe solutions matched to the stain type and material.

  4. Solvent Dry Cleaning – Curtains are cleaned using professional-grade dry cleaning solvents that lift dirt and odours without water, protecting colour and shape.

  5. Finishing & Pressing – Curtains are pressed or steamed lightly to remove wrinkles and restore a crisp, hung-ready finish.

  6. Quality Check – Final inspection to confirm cleanliness, no shrinkage, and no residual odour before curtains are returned or re-hung.

Curtain Steam Cleaning

Best for: Curtains that don’t require solvent cleaning, in-situ cleaning (without removal), or lighter maintenance cleans

  1. Inspection & Fabric Check – Technician assesses fabric type and confirms it’s suitable for steam (some delicate fabrics need dry cleaning instead).

  2. Dust Removal – Curtains are vacuumed with a soft brush attachment to clear surface dust before steaming.

  3. High-Temperature Steam Application – A commercial steam cleaner is used at a safe distance from the fabric, working top to bottom in sections to loosen embedded dirt and kill dust mites, bacteria, and odour-causing particles.

  4. Stain Spot Treatment – Localised stains are treated separately if steam alone won’t fully lift them.

  5. Drying – Curtains are left to air dry fully (often can remain hung in place, minimising disruption to the room).

  6. Final Check – Confirm curtains are dry, fresh-smelling, and free of streaking or water marks.

Types of Curtains We Clean

Blackout Curtains: Blackout curtains often contain coated or layered materials designed to block light, which means they need to be handled differently from standard fabrics. These coatings and backings can be sensitive to certain cleaning methods, so we take this construction into account when deciding on the appropriate approach, helping to look after the fabric and backing during cleaning.

Sheer Curtains: Sheer curtains are typically made from lightweight, delicate fabrics that require careful handling throughout the cleaning process. Because these materials can be more prone to distortion or shrinkage if treated incorrectly, we assess the fabric type before choosing a suitable method, with the aim of keeping the curtain’s drape and appearance as close to its original condition as possible.

Drapes: Heavier drapes and drapery fabrics bring their own considerations, largely due to their weight and construction. Thicker linings, interlinings, or layered fabric can affect how a curtain absorbs moisture or responds to steam, which is why we take weight and construction into account when recommending the most appropriate curtain cleaning method for these heavier pieces.

Linen Curtains: Linen is a natural fabric with its own care requirements, and it can respond differently to cleaning compared to synthetic materials. Our approach to linen curtain cleaning takes these characteristics into consideration, aiming to address everyday dust, dirt, and soiling while working within what the fabric can reasonably handle.

Polyester Curtains: Polyester is one of the most common curtain fabrics we clean, largely because it holds up well to regular use. Even so, polyester curtains still accumulate dust, dirt, and general soiling over time. Our cleaning process is adapted to suit polyester’s fabric-care requirements, helping to address this build-up as part of a proper professional clean.

Velvet Curtains: Velvet is a delicate fabric with a distinct pile and texture, so it typically calls for a more careful, specialist approach compared to standard curtain materials. Where velvet curtains are suitable for our service, we assess the fabric closely during pre-inspection to determine the appropriate handling, with the aim of protecting the texture and appearance of the material.

Other Specialised Window & Upholstery Fabrics: Beyond the fabrics above, some curtains and window furnishings are made from other specialised or structured materials. These may require their own fabric-specific handling, which we assess on a case-by-case basis during inspection. Where a fabric falls outside our standard cleaning capabilities, we’ll always let you know before proceeding.

Common Curtain Problems We Treat

Dust & Dirt Build-Up: Curtains act as a natural dust catcher, especially in living rooms, bedrooms, and other frequently used spaces near windows and air-conditioning vents. Over time, this build-up can settle deep into the curtain fabric rather than sitting on the surface. Professional curtain cleaning helps lift trapped dust and dirt that everyday shaking or vacuuming often misses.

Unpleasant Odours: Curtains readily absorb smells from cooking, pets, and general indoor activity, particularly in homes with open-plan kitchens or limited airflow. These odours can linger in the fabric long after the original smell has faded from the room. Professional cleaning treats the curtain fabric directly, helping to reduce absorbed odours rather than simply masking them.

Food & Drink Stains: Curtains near dining areas, kitchens, or high-traffic spots can pick up accidental splashes from food and drinks. These marks are sometimes only noticed once they’ve had time to set into the fabric. Professional curtain cleaning includes appropriate stain treatment for the affected area, helping to improve the appearance of the mark based on the fabric type and how long it’s been there.

Pet Hair & Pet-Related Soiling: In homes with pets, curtains can collect hair, dander, and the occasional mark from pets brushing past or resting nearby. This buildup tends to be more noticeable on curtains within reach of furniture or window ledges. Professional cleaning helps remove embedded pet hair and residue that regular brushing or vacuuming can struggle to fully clear.

General Fabric Soiling: Everyday handling, opening and closing curtains, exposure to sunlight, and general indoor air can gradually leave curtain fabric looking dull, dingy, or slightly discoloured, even without an obvious cause. This kind of wear tends to build up slowly rather than appear all at once. Professional curtain cleaning is suited to addressing this general soiling and helping restore a fresher appearance to the fabric.

Musty Smells: Curtains in rooms with limited ventilation, or those exposed to damp conditions common in Singapore’s humid climate, can develop a musty smell over time. This is often more noticeable in curtains that hang near windows, air-conditioning units, or areas with less airflow. Professional cleaning addresses the affected fabric directly, helping to reduce musty odours as part of the overall clean.

Frequently Asked Questions About Curtain Cleaning

As a general guide, curtains should be professionally cleaned every 6 to 12 months as part of routine maintenance. Curtains exposed to higher levels of dust, humidity, pets, cooking odours, smoke, or heavy daily use may benefit from cleaning every 3 to 6 months.

The ideal frequency depends on the curtain’s fabric, location, household conditions, and how often the room is used. Curtains that are visibly soiled, develop noticeable odours, or have not been cleaned for a long time may require cleaning sooner.

Professional curtain cleaning involves assessing the curtain’s fabric, construction, lining, and condition before selecting the most appropriate cleaning method. Depending on these factors, curtains may be cleaned using on-site steam cleaning or off-site dry cleaning.

The process is designed to reduce accumulated dust, dirt, everyday soiling, and odours while taking the curtain’s material and care requirements into consideration.

Curtain steam cleaning is carried out on-site, with curtains usually left hanging, and is well suited to routine maintenance and many types of everyday soiling.

Curtain dry cleaning is carried out off-site and may be more appropriate for delicate fabrics, certain linings, structured curtains, or materials with specific care requirements.

The most suitable method depends on your curtain’s fabric, construction, and condition.

This depends on factors such as fabric type, lining, construction, care requirements, and the condition of the curtains. Rather than guessing, we recommend a pre-inspection so we can assess your curtains and confirm whether steam cleaning or dry cleaning is the most appropriate option.

Not for steam cleaning — this is usually done on-site with curtains left in place.

For dry cleaning, curtains are carefully taken down, logged, and transported off-site for cleaning. If you’d prefer not to handle the removal or rehanging yourself, dismantling and reinstallation can be arranged as an additional service.

Professional curtain cleaning helps reduce accumulated dust, dirt, everyday soiling, and odours while taking the fabric and construction of your curtains into consideration.

Professional cleaning can also help maintain the appearance and condition of your curtains over time. Using the appropriate cleaning method helps minimise the risk of damage that can occur when unsuitable cleaning techniques are used.

Light dusting or vacuuming can help with surface dust between professional cleans, but it may not remove embedded dirt or more stubborn soiling.

DIY steam cleaning can also carry a risk of uneven results or fabric damage if the temperature or technique is not suitable for the material. For a thorough clean, professional curtain cleaning is generally recommended.

No — suitability depends on the fabric and its construction. Many curtain materials respond well to steam cleaning, but delicate fabrics, certain linings, coated blackout backings, and some specialty or structured materials may be better suited to dry cleaning.

We confirm the appropriate method during pre-inspection rather than assuming one method fits all fabrics.

Curtain steam cleaning uses a controlled, low-moisture approach designed to reduce the risk of shrinkage. Our team adjusts the steam temperature and technique according to the fabric identified during inspection.

However, no cleaning method can completely rule out shrinkage or fabric changes on every material, which is why fabric assessment is important before cleaning begins.

Because steam cleaning is a low-moisture method, curtains typically dry within a few hours. The exact drying time can vary depending on fabric thickness, humidity, ventilation, and airflow in the room.

Since dry cleaning is carried out off-site, it generally takes longer than steam cleaning overall, as curtains need to be collected, processed, and returned. We’ll confirm an estimated turnaround time when your booking is arranged.

In most cases, yes. Our process includes appropriate stain and spot treatment based on the fabric and the nature of the soiling, and is designed to reduce accumulated dust and everyday dirt.

However, results can vary depending on the type, age, and severity of a stain. Older or heavily set-in stains may not be completely removable, and complete stain removal cannot be guaranteed.
